Activities

Executive Education for Policy Makers

CalCEF Innovations trains legislators and policy makers, their staff and lawyers on the finer points of microeconomics as applied to clean energy markets.  In single day, three day, one week, and two week courses we train politicos, their support staff, non-governmental organizations, energy policy agencies, and legal professionals how to think and decide like business professionals by acquiring the perspectives of entrepreneurs and company executives on subjects related to business building, financing, and operation.  By considering market forces, investors’ perspectives and bottom line imperatives, our goal is to help government be more market oriented and practical in the outcomes of the policy making process.

Professionals from a variety of related disciplines and policy fields are encouraged to participate.  Participants learn to use economics to be more strategic and successful in their energy policy work.  Classes study business situations with the context of climate change, natural resource scarcity, and environmental economics.  Real world case studies provide the opportunities to practice communication and negotiation techniques and acquire hands-on experience with cost-benefit analysis.

Our courses are taught by successful business professionals and experts in energy economics who also have extensive first hand experience and understand real-world challenges.  They are drawn from leading companies, academic institutions, foundations, CalCEF Innovations’ partners and staff.

We are currently developing courses and curriculum. Please check back for schedules.
